"After the Holidays" Wine & Cheese Night

It is a new year, and what better way to keep the good times rolling, than to get together with all family friends and spend a great evening. This year instead of making it a fancy ordeal, and making the event a sit down 7 course meal, we did a buffet style wine and cheese night. Of course there was plenty of food. Almost too much for everyone, and as per the norm there are many leftovers. It was fantastic to see everyone whom I have not in years. Pat and Ari came, as well as Ron and Ursula. Dan and Cindy, Aunt LuAnn and Lauren. Dag came as well. Andy arrived fashionably, since we had been invited to some friends' engagement party dinner.

I took some candid photos at the beginning of the night, of the crowd

The dining room was where we had set up the wines, cheeses, and cold cuts. That day Dad and I went all over searching for cheeses and finding wines that would pair up. So on the table we set the correct wine that corresponded with the correct plate of cheeses.

The kitchen was where we had set up the soup, salad and drinks. Mom and had made a red pepper soup, and I made a Citrus Parmesan Dressing for the salad that had cashews and almonds.

After hours of eating (that hasn't changed be it a sit-down or buffet style evening) the ladies took a photo (we are missing one gal!)

Then after all the intake of wine and savory flavors, it was time for sweets. There was a fruit plate, meringues, mini cream puffs and I had made a Tiramisu.

The evening started around 6:30pm and the last of the guests left well after 1:00 am. I would say it was a very successful event. It is always so nice to get together with people that are important in my life. It is important to keep close ties with those you have known for the majority of your life, and seeing that at this night really warmed my heart. Everything turned out wonderfully and I am so thankful for everyone who was able to make it!!!

Hysterical Yet Unfair

What goes through your mind when someone says "Let's go for a drink"?

January Supper Club

This month's Supper Club was hosted by Amy. She invited us all to her fabulous abode, and made a very yummy New Year's feast. IT was such a great turn out, and I'm am so impressed at how well she fed such a large group of hungry and thirsty girls. If there's one thing this group can do well with, it's finishing our drinks and clearing out plates. She prepared collard greens (well as close as you can make them out here on the west coast), black eyed peas for luck, and scrumptious pork. Sarah is the go-to gal for salads and brought a new salad with strawberries and feta. So yummy!

Just finishing up the final touches before eating

Obviously, from the pictures, the night was a success! Supper Club is always so much fun, and lets us girls have a night for just us. All of you are so much fun! And I cannot wait for the next Supper Club brought to us all by Ashton!!

Ringing in 2009 Newport Beach Style

Happy New Year everyone!!

To party out the year 2008 and bring in 2009, a whole bunch of us went to Woody's Wharf in Newport Beach. The group was about 15 persons, and we had dinner and danced the night away. Dinner started at 7:00 pm, and we stayed out until 2:30 am. I had been sick in bed all week, so this was my first night out in a while. I stayed away and danced my heart out, as much as I could of course. Here are some snapshots taken throughout the night, thanks to Bryan!

It was a fun night of drinks, music, friends, and dancing.

December Supper Club

This is a belated post. I did not upload these until now. Just before all the holidays started I was invited to a monthly Supper Club that a bunch of the gals throw. Kary hosted it and she had prepared a warm and yummy homemade winter meal. From meatloaf, to warm bread and a scrumptious salad, it was so good! We all sat around sipping wine and munching on the food, and happy that the holidays were just around the corner.

Kathleen, Kary, Katie and Morgan (at the kids' table...Just Kidding!)

After the meal we had an ornament exchange. We sat around the coffee table in the living room and did a sort of "white elephant-esque" game of who chose what gift to wrap or steal from another girl.

Amy, Sarah and Kathleen

My number rolled around, and so I chose an ornament that was still wrapped. It is so incredibly ironic, not only that I chose the one that Sandy brought that night, but it is the 2008 Starbucks ornament!!! My pick was instantly frozen, meaning no one could steal the ornament from me. I suppose I still am a Starbucks girl through and through.

We continued with the opening of all the gifts.

Poor Morgan was the only gal to get her ornament stolen from her. She chose mine and I believe Sarah stole it from her....Sorry Morgan!

I am looking forward to January Supper Club, and will try to post those a little sooner than next month!!!
