My Birthday at the Happiest Place on Earth...

Yesterday was my birthday. Yes, another year has flown by! This year, mom and I took a day off of work and decided to go to Disneyland and make a girls' day out of it. First we had a late breakfast in Costa Mesa at the Omelette Parlor. So good, everyone must go once. The picture above is from the entrance. The restaurant is located in the older part of town, so it was like going back in time. Very fun! The big boy was my date for the day :-)

After breakfast we headed over to the park to start the goody fun! First stop; City Hall, to our birthday pins. We both had out pins out in the open, and have not been told happy birthday that many times during out entire life! Workers, if they see them, are obligated to say Happy Birthday!! After we were set and armed with pins we made a bee-line towards Star Tours (it's tradition). Unfortunately it broke down while we were in line. So after that we headed to the submarines. The ride has been closed for years, and finally just reopened as a Finding Nemo adventure. I highly suggest this!!!

We made our way around the park hopping from one ride to the next.

Splash Mountain...mom is a bit soaked....

Lunchtime! we had our soups and pommes frites at Cafe Orleans :-) Here we are with our complimentary birthday Mickey Beignets. We got to make our birthday wishes!!!

When it was time for us to return to Space Mountain (we had fast passes) we checked out Star Tours to see if it had reopened. I have never gone through that line fast in my life!!!

Arnaud--this photo is for you :-)

Towards the end of the evening, and two rides of Big Thunder later, we took a nice boat ride on the Mark Twain. I have never been on it so it was brand new to me. The lights of the park were really pretty.

Around 10 pm we were both spent. We decided to get ourselves a cocktail and dinner at Downtown Disney. We ate at Ralph Brennan's. I had a Southern Cosmo Martini, and Mom tried the Southern Breeze cocktail, and we split the appetizer sampler. It was the perfect meal to wrap up such a fun and eventful day!!!!

It was such a fantastic birthday. Thank you all who messaged, texted, bbm'ed, facebook commented and called from around the world!!! I love you all!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Happy Birthday MOM! April 1st is never April Fool's Day to us in the Colantonio home. It has and always will strictly be mom's birthday. And this year I had her tell me what she would like for dinner..what she was craving. So as her meal we decided on Paprika Chicken with Brown Rice, and for dessert a Fruit Salad with a Banana Citrus Yogurt Dressing.

a new favorite...this is so good after a hearty meal!

We kept it a mellow birthday but I hope mom appreciated it! Knowing how she is not necessarily fond of having a huge hoopla on her birthday, it was nice to keep it intimate. And to many more birthdays ahead at which I will be able to cook!!!!
